Here are some tangible tools and not so tangible tools that will help you succeed in reaching your weight loss goals. The not so tangible tools are as important is not more important than the tangible tools. This list is by no means a total list. But here you go.
Some tangible tools you will need are:
Scale that weighs in 1 to 2 tenths of a pound-- you will weigh on this every week during weight loss phase, also known as Phase 2 or P2, and every day during your beginning maintenance phase, also known as Phase 3 or P3.
Notebook/pen—This goes next to your scale and you will record your weight weekly during P2 and then daily once you move into maintenance, P3.
Food scale—used to weigh your protein portion.
Some not so tangible tools are:
A plan— Know what you are going to eat and prepare it ahead of time. This will prevent being tempted to munch during last minute meal prep and ultimately overeat. When you don’t have a plan you have already set yourself up for failure. It provides a foundation to the path you are taking. By planning you are ready for success.
A connection to a higher source—Pray without ceasing. It means just that. God told me that through Him all things are possible. So my prayer is, ”I cannot do this alone, I don’t know what I’m doing, but because of you, I can do it. You fill me and I am satisfied”. When you are tempted and lose focus of your weight loss goals, it is because your focus isn’t on God.
Here’s another great prayer*:
I love you God, for filling me and making all things possible.
I’m sorry for all the times I didn’t recognize you working in my life in many ways.
Please forgive me for all the times I failed to acknowledge your gifts for me.
Thank-you for never leaving me and forever loving me.
Weight loss isn’t always about weight loss. It’s about giving yourself permission to love yourself at whatever weight you are.
You are beautiful, capable and worthy at any weight. Love yourself!!
